My CrossFit journey started 6 years ago after my husband had been going for about 3 months. He encouraged me to try it out and I was skeptical as I was overweight & had back issues. I went to try it and enjoyed it! So I stuck around for a while. The box I started at had some one-on-one time before you jumped into a beginner class. I think this was vital to my experience. I was taught good form in all movements and was never over pushed as I was fearful of hurting my back more than it already hurt. Once I started classes, I was hooked. I loved the fact that every WOD was different so I’d never get bored and just wanna quit going. I loved the accountability of seeing the same people in class and the family atmosphere at CrossFit builds. Over the last 6 years, I’ve been apart of 3 different boxes and loved different things about all of them. I’ve even branched out to try boxes when I’ve traveled!! I love how I feel when completed a WOD and I’m obsessed with closing my circles on my apple watch, lol. The functionality of CrossFit is something that I love as well. Through consistently going 3-4 times a week and regular chiropractor adjustments I’ve been pain-free for a long time!! It’s about sticking with it!
Over the last year & a half, I’ve been on a weight loss journey. I’ve lost weight before and never learned how to maintain at a healthy weight. This time has been different and I know that CrossFit has played a big role. I’ve learned what foods work for my body and what doesn’t yet I’ve still got a ways to go. It’s a constant learning curve yet it’s been exciting to see the changes in my body and even in how I perform in a WOD.
A huge thank you to each coach that has given me any attention in making me a better ‘athlete,’ which I don’t consider myself as such as I’m the slowest of the slow. LOL Without your encouragement and guidance I wouldn’t be where I am today in my fitness journey. Thank you for welcoming me and having me as a part of the CrossFit Mid-County Family!!
