My name is Ian McCullough, I’m 39 years old, a husband and a father of three. When I was asked if I would be interested in being a featured athlete I was surprised. I’ve been working out off and on for years. I began to plateau never really breaking through and making the kind of progress I wanted or needed to reach my desired goals. So I decided to give CrossFit Mid County a try. I assumed because of my past experience it would be easier than it appeared. I thought I was in decent physical shape and that it could help me tone up, become more defined and help achieve the goal I had set for myself. I quickly realized that was a huge error in judgment and made aware of my many limitations. It was very humbling to say the least. Since joining Crossfit Mid County I have been apart of workouts I would have never even attempted or thought I could do on my own. It forces you to constantly push yourself both physically and mentally. Crossfit gave me a new perspective on what it is to be in shape, given me motivation and drive I was missing for so long.
I started in October 2013 and weighed 250 lbs, I have lost 40 pounds. I’m wearing clothes I forgot I even owned. I feel better than I have felt in a long time. Prior to crossfit I never exercised in a class setting now I don’t think I could do it an y other way. Everyone has been real cool, they push me to be a better healthier me, to surpass my own personal goals. To all the coaches, thank you, for your effort and dedication that’s put into each class. I’m nowhere near where I want to be and I still think I’m going to die at some point during every WOD ending with me usually on the floor. But I’m enjoying the progression and finally having fun working out again.
