Hey, I’m Crystal! I’m so honored to be featured as athlete of the month. I’m 25 years old and my CrossFit journey began in January 2016. At that time in my life, I was the heaviest I had ever been and so self-conscious. It was a struggle to keep up with my 4-year-old daughter. I knew I needed to change my habits and get into a structured program that was more than your regular cardio and weight machine. I enrolled into the New You program. The coaches set up a meal plan and taking your measurements to help you keep track of your progress. When I first walked into class, I was so nervous. “How was I suppose to do what was asked of me to do?” “I hadn’t worked out since before I had my oldest daughter.” So many thoughts flooded my head. During those 6 weeks, I was motivated by the amazing coaches and my anxiety diminished a little more every day. It wasn’t until they programmed a 400 meter run for the second time, that I realized I cut 1.35 minutes off of my very first time. I was getting faster and I was hooked! I lost 10 pounds and so many inches during that course. I immediately signed up as a member and continued to work towards my fitness goals. I’ve started CrossFit over 3 times due to medical complications and then having my newest baby girl. Coming back everytime was just an exhilarating as the first time. Since then, my goals have altered a bit. Instead of keeping up with my daughter, it’s to be able to stay healthy and become stronger. I’ve met so many amazing and encouraging people within these past 3 years. From getting your first rope climb, running a whole mile and so many firsts, the comradery is electrifying. The CFMC coaches and members make every class fun and memorable. Thank you to the best coaches! Yall are the absolute best!
